Second String Band on Facebook Yep, that’s right, we have finally stepped into the new millenium and have a presence on Facebook.

Second String Band on MySpace Our incredibly out-of-date MySpace page; some old tunes here from the first lineup.

The Simple Joy Excellent Durham band playing original music mixing up rock, blues, folk, country, bluegrass and gospel. Michael plays bass & guitar and sings.

Liquid Garcia Playing the music of Jerry Garcia, with a focus on the Jerry Garcia Band. Our old friend and former bandmate Matt Mikula is the guitarist and Miner plays electric violin.

S.Alt (formerly Sports Alternative) Marc & Bert’s electric rock band. Originally a trio, with Sue Pippin pounding the skins, they are occasionally joined by Miner on electric violin. Tuneful and rocking, they play great Marc Auble originals and unique cover tune arrangements.

Auble Systems The BEST custom amps from our own Marc Auble.

Cat’s Away Studio Miner’s home studio (& wood shop), where we recorded our first album “Backroads” in early 2009. Great Big Gone’s “Threadbare Heart” was also recorded here as was S.Alt’s EP “On Any Given Sunday.”.

The Original Q Shack Our favorite Q; catch us here the second Sunday evening every month.

Berkeley Cafe Our favorite place to play in Raleigh.

The Players' Retreat Great food and drink and a Raleigh tradition since 1951. Though he’s now retired, for many years you’d often find Bert behind the bar, serving up all your favorites.

Sprawling Productions Check out Miner’s violin work with progressive rock bands “St. Elmo’s Fire” and “Kill Tim’s Grass”.

Moon Water A terrific Widespread Panic tribute band featuring our old friend Dave Griffith on bass.

The Flipside A great place for terrific food and music, in the heart of Clayton.

Crema Coffee Award-winning brews and a local favorite; really nice folks and they do their own roasting.

CupAJoe Consistently great coffee; they do their own roasting. A must-visit whenever we’re in Raleigh near NC State.

Caffé Driade World-class baristas and an amazing natural setting on Bolin Creek in Chapel Hill; we love playing there and drinking their fabulous coffees.

Open Eye Cafe Another great place for coffee and music, when you happen to be in Carrboro.

New Hope Valley Railway Preserving the history and heritage of North Carolina railroads for the future.

Friends of Bolin Creek A non-profit organization dedicated to preserving the Bolin Creek corridor in the towns of Carrboro and Chapel Hill.
